The following are a set of commonly asked questions related to SearchIQ.

What is SearchIQ?

SearchIQ is a plugin for WordPress that optimizes and enhances your website’s search functionality.

Do I need an account to use SearchIQ?

An account is required to use SearchIQ. You can create an account here.

Where can I find my API key?

Login to your dashboard and click on the “My Profile” icon. Here you will find your API and account information.


Does searchIQ provide a search bar?

Yes. There are two options, the search widget and the search menu icon. To install on your site please follow the steps listed in our guide under “Add a search bar”.

Does SearchIQ provide reporting and analytics?

SearchIQ provides analytics reporting which allows you to see what your users are searching for. To see the reporting tool in action, log into your account and navigate to the dashboard.

What is deep search

Deep search allows your users to search any and all custom fields and custom post types. Deep search is great for publishers using WordPress to build recipe websites, e-commerce shops, and anyone else needing more robust search functionality.

Do my analytics include all keywords searched?

The SearchIQ plugin does not record statistics for commonly known “stop words”; like “the”, “to”, “this”

Is there list of completed features for SearchIQ?

Currently SearchIQ includes the following feature set in our beta product:

What is the weights feature?

The weights feature is used when you want to increase the importance of certain fields or attributes. This can help you increase the relevancy of the search by promoting certain content to the top of the results list.

What is Cross Domain search?

Cross Domain allows you to link your sites together and search across them. You can create group(s) among your sites and search within the group

What are analytics?

Analytics give you insight into popular content on your website. They allow you to see what users are searching for, where they click, top queries, queries that have no results, and which autocomplete queries are most popular.
They look great, they’re easy to understand and they are super user friendly. See example below.

What is the synonym feature?

The synonym feature links two or more words which have the same meaning. For example: If a user is searching for “cheap travel” then the search results will show all the posts related to cheap travel. However you may have posts which have discounted travel in the content, this will be skipped for the “cheap travel” search. You can manually add custom synonyms, in this case “cheap,discount”. Now, for the same query, discounted travel query will also be included.

What is the custom search feature and how do I enable it?

SearchIQ features a custom results page that you can modify to blend into your site’s native look and feel. To enable, navigate to the plugin’s “Options” tab and select “Use custom search” and submit to save your preference.


How to use meta tags

To help our crawler extract content from your site accurately you can add meta tags to each web page. Our crawler support the following meta tags: and The Open Graph protocol

Here we provide examples of the meta tags:

    • Post title: <meta itemprop="name" content="Page title"/>
    • Short description: <meta itemprop="description" content="Here you can put short description"/>
    • Post image: <img itemprop="image" src="post-image.jpg"/> or <meta itemprop="thumbnailUrl" src="thumbnail-40x40.png"/>
    • Post content: <article itemprop="articleBody">... here is the post content ...</article> or <div itemprop="text">... here is the post conten ...</div>
    • Post author: <meta itemprop="author" content="Author Name"/> or <meta itemprop="creator" content="Author Name"/>

    • Post title: <meta property="og:title" content="Page title"/>
    • Short description: <meta property="og:description" content="Here you can put short description"/>
    • Post image: <meta property="og:image" content="post-image.png"/>

What is the XPath and how to use it to improve the crawler accuracy?

XPath is a query language which provide easy way to select node from an XML/HTML document. You can read more about the language here.

Below we provide some examples:

  • Post title: /html/head/title
  • Short description: /html/head/meta[@name="description"][email protected]
  • Post image: //div[@id="container"][email protected]
  • Post content: //div[@id="container"]/article
  • Post author: //div[@id="container"]/span[@id="author"]

If you have different html structure for every post content you can set two or more XPath queries separated by comma.

What is the difference between searchIQ Free license and Infinite free license ?

They are actually the same thing. searchIQ Free license (or Infinite license) was given to all the search engines created before February 08, 2017, it allows users to index unlimited records. Note : This is different from searchIQ Plus license. The searchIQ free license does not support “White Labeling”, you are not able to remove the searchIQ logo from your search.
